The aim is to create the quintessential personal statistical analyst for each NFL team, using play-by-play data from a given regular season. My goal is to be your analytics department. Each week this season, I want to work for you in analyzing which numbers flag in my models as the most impactful ... or the most misunderstood.
Each season, I will preview the upcoming week of action through the lens of analytics. You'll get my analysis of which numbers jump off the page as important for your team or for its opponent. I will also provide you with context for these numbers and put them into actionable perspective as part of a framework that accounts for defense, coaching, skill and game situation. If a number really stands out to you, this might be a good time to swing a deal, pull your starting quarterback or make other decisions in order to maximize value at a critical time during the season.
As a powerful, cloud-based analytics service, Chartio delivers an effortless research experience that anyone on your team can use. It's the same product that's powering organizations like Airbnb, Cisco, and Yelp.
With more of what you love from the regular season and a host of new surprises, the 2013 Playoffs are going to be even more compelling than ever!
Whether you're putting away for yourself or a loved one, the Happy Super Wild Card Weekend will be worth your while. We've never had a weekend like this in NFL history, so we don't know what could happen between now and then. But the odds are in your favor. Let's get happy!
After a wild first season with expanded playoffs, we are back for more Divisional Round action. For the second straight season, three divisions sent four teams to the big dance, with two—the NFC West and AFC West—having all four of their teams in. In the Western divisions, Seattle, Arizona and San Francisco will be vying for the conference crown, while Kansas City and Oakland will duke it out for the right to go to Arrowhead Stadium for the Divisional Round.
Our model projects that he Patriots and Rams will meet in Super Bowl LVI. This game is much more likely to happen if they both win this weekend, but if that outcome doesn't play out then the model predicts the next-most likely Super Bowl would be Patriots vs. Chargers or Colts. In any of the three-team options for Super Bowl LVI, the Patriots have an 88 percent chance of winning the big game, according to our model. The Chargers are projected to have a 12 percent chance of winning, while the Colts have a 2 percent of winning it all.
