DENVER -- Broncos coach Vic Fangio said he isn't worried about the future.

Despite the loss to the Chiefs, Denver's defensive-minded head coach Vic Fangio will keep his job, sources said. Fangio spent five years with the team, but a disappointing season and some rumblings regarding friction between him and the front office contributed to the factors that ultimately will lead to his dismissal.
Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio has a contract with the team through next season. How much longer he coaches in Denver is unclear, with Del Rio telling reporters Saturday night that he didn't know what was ahead for him and that he had spoken with first-year general manager John Elway about the situation.
Fangio and his new assistant, Jeff Legwold, were spotted going over some play calls on a walkthrough. Fangio had a smile on his face and discussed the defense during the 30-minute window when the media was allowed to watch.
Wrapping up a season filled with exciting highs and devastating lows, the Broncos can point to any number of things that went wrong on Sunday as the team fell victim to a late comeback by the Kansas City Chiefs and lost 24-23.
Fangio was hoping free-agency additions and a draft with five first-round picks would transform the Broncos from playoff also-rans to instant Super Bowl contenders. The fact that they were even considered as such during training camp speaks to how far the former head coach had fallen in his players' eyes. One season later, they're a puzzling 7-9 that has Fangio acting like a man running out of time. The team's once-proud defense is yielding 200 more yards per game than last season, while there is no sure thing under center. Regardless of who's at quarterback or what happens with veteran Case Keenum – he's set to become an unrestricted free agent – this is a team searching for answers heading into its second offseason under Vance Joseph.
